Publicado el 16-08-2019

The ministers of Economy and Finance, Héctor Alexander and Public Works Rafael Sabonge confirmed that the work on the fourth bridge over the Canal will begin construction this year.

The Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge, during his participation in the Budget Commission of the National Assembly of Panama, informed that such work could begin in approximately 30 days.

According to Sabonge, this work presented a low execution rate and the contractor, Panama Fourth Bridge Consortium, is working with the advance payment, but it was reaffirmed that it will be built this year.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, during the session of the Budget Committee, said that after reviewing the execution schedule of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), “items were identified that would not be completed this 2019 product that were financed with sources that required an operation in the capital market and that the National Highway Company (ENA) did not specify, these balances were taken to allow MIDA to meet the producers ”.

"This does not imply that the fourth bridge over the Canal will stop being built and that this work will be a reality," said National Budget Director Carlos González.

Minister Alexander said that the work development implementation schedule is coordinated with the MOP.
