Copa Airlines B737 MAX9 Aircraft Receive Authorization to Operate

Publicado el 02-02-2024

Copa Airlines will gradually return to operating the 737 MAX 9

Copa Airlines has received authorization for the 21 grounded aircraft to undergo the required inspection process following the Airworthiness Directive issued by the United States FAA.

The inspections are being carried out by professional technicians from Copa Airlines, following the highest quality standards and with monitoring and supervision by the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) of Panama. We estimate that this process will be completed within the next 24 hours.

Copa Airlines will gradually reactivate, starting this Thursday, January 25, 2024, flights that had previously been canceled, until returning to a full itinerary on Sunday, January 28, 2024 . Additionally, we are offering new options for passengers whose itineraries have been impacted:

  • Passengers who have confirmed a new travel itinerary can change to a new flight at no additional cost if they wish.
  • Passengers who do not yet have a new travel itinerary confirmed after canceling their original flight can choose a new flight by contacting the customer service center or ticket store, airport or travel agency.
  • Passengers whose tickets are already in the refund process and wish to travel must purchase a new ticket.

The airline reinforces its recommendation to its passengers to check the status of their flight on website before heading to the airport. Copa Airlines reiterates that its top priority is the safety of its passengers and crew, thanking everyone involved for their understanding while the situation returns to normal.
