The orange economy accounts for 6% of Panama's GDP: Mici

The Minister of Commerce and Industry of Panama, Néstor González, highlighted the potential of the film industry, as part of the orange economy, to boost the country's growth.

"Today, the orange economy occupies 6% of Panama's GDP and has become a source of economic growth and jobs, and film is an important pillar in this sector," said González.

According to figures from the Comptroller General's Office, in 2017 the Gross Domestic Product of Panama (GDP) grew 5.3%, totaling $ 62,283.8 million.

 González spoke about the income generated by the orange industry to the Panamanian economy, this Monday, February 4, as part of the signing of a sponsorship agreement for the eighth edition of the Panama International Film Festival (IFF) 2019.

Throughout these years, "we have witnessed the great impact generated by the IFF in the development of our film industry, the transfer of knowledge for our filmmakers, the inspiration for new talent, and mainly the satisfaction felt by the public that enjoys of films of great quality, and cultural and social value ", concluded the head of the MICI.
