Panama: Exports grow 8%

From January to August of this year, sales abroad totaled $ 487 million, resulting in an increase of 8.3% over the same period of 2017.

The latest data from the Comptroller General of the Republic, detail that between the first eight months of 2017 and the same period of 2018 exports rose from $ 450 million to $ 487 million, an increase that is partly explained by the behavior of banana sales and sugar. 

For the periods in question, banana exports grew 9%, increasing from $ 64 million to $ 69 million, and in the case of sugar it reported an increase of 11%, rising from $ 22 million to $ 24 million. 

For its part, sales of fishmeal and fish oil rose by 14%, growing from $ 29 million to $ 33 million.
