ACP Promotes New Business with Asia

The Panama Canal Authority and the Development Authority of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway signed an agreement that will increase business from Asia. The administrator of the Panama Canal Authority, Jorge Luis Quijano, and the governor of the state of Mississippi and chairman of the board of directors of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority, Phil Bryant, signed the renewal of the agreement, which It was established for the first time in 2010.

This cooperation alliance strengthens international trade ties and generates new business, promoting the use of the water route between Asia and the south-central states of the United States through the Panama Canal. The alliance will generate new business opportunities and strengthen connections between navigable waterway system points in the United States, known as Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, which covers the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.

"With this agreement, we cut distances and strengthen ties. The global supply chain will become faster and more efficient, and we will bring commercial development to our countries. The state of Mississippi is grateful to have the Panama Canal as a partner in our continental waterway, "said Governor Bryant. The agreement allows for joint marketing actions, information sharing and technological exchange.
