Panama: Port Movement Up 10%

In the first seven months of this year 2.4 million containers have moved through panamanian ports, 10% more than in the same period in 2016.
 
Preliminary figures from the Panama Maritime Authority show that between January and July of this year, 2,357,588 containers passed through Panamanian ports, equivalent to 3.9 million TEUs. 
 
The movement of vehicles in the ports grew by 21%, growing from 69,266 units in the first seven months of 2016, to 83,510 units in the same period of 2017.
 
Movement of cargo, measured in metric tons, increased by 15%, going from 43 million between January and July of last year, to 49 million in the same period this year.
