Panama Economic Activity Up 5.3%

Between January and February 2017, the Panama economic activities recorded an increase of 5.23% compared to the same period in 2016, which represents an improvement of 0.93 percentage points, according to the Monthly Index of Economic Activity (IMAE).

As for the activities that contributed the most to the growth of the country, they were: transportation, storage and communications encouraged by the activities of the Panama Canal. In February, the volume of cargo transited through the inter-oceanic route grew by 26.3%, while toll revenue increased by 17%.
