Panama stands out on the global semiconductor scene with new strategic alliances
In a crucial meeting for the technological future of Panama, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Julio Molto, received Gabriel Ortiz, co-founder and CEO of Pixart Argentina, and Gabriel Dutra, director for Latin America of the multinational Qualcomm. Pixart Argentina, recognized for its outstanding computer factory in Latin America and founded in 1998, seeks to expand its production in Panama using Qualcomm's advanced technology.

Qualcomm, based in San Diego and a leader in the production of semiconductors and wireless technology, has a 39% market share in smartphone processors and 20% in tablet processors, according to Strategy Analytics. The collaboration between Pixart and Qualcomm in Panama promises to revolutionize the local technology sector.

Gabriel Ortiz of Pixart Argentina highlighted Panama's strategic position, noting that the country offers an ideal platform for expanding the production and distribution of computers in Latin America and the U.S. Ortiz explained that the first phase of the project will include the manufacturing of complete products, from design to assembly and repair, optimizing the global supply chain.

Minister Moltó emphasized the importance of attracting high-caliber technology companies such as Pixart Argentina to Panama, highlighting that this investment will not only create new job opportunities, but will also develop specialized skills in the country. The creation of the Semiconductor Commission reflects the Panamanian government's commitment to economic growth and technological development.

The integration of Pixart and Qualcomm technologies promises to boost innovation and economic growth in Panama, consolidating the country as a nerve center in the semiconductor industry in Latin America.
