Panama has achieved outstanding positions in several important categories.
Panama has been recognized internationally for its progress in improving its investor relations, according to the Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Report, 2024 published by the International Institute of Finance (IIF) in July 2024.
This report highlights the country’s efforts to facilitate access to transparent information on its debt, evaluating 50 countries in emerging and frontier markets. Panama has achieved outstanding positions in several important categories: 4th place in “Appetite for Emerging Market Debt”, 17th in “Investor Relations”, 4th in “Change in Investor Relations”, 22nd in “Debt Transparency” and 22nd in “Data Dissemination and ESG Policies”.
Among the most valued aspects in the report are: availability of the team to respond to investor requests; visibility of future policies, which offers investors better foresight; access to a bilingual website (English and Spanish), facilitating understanding for an international audience; detailed breakdown of data by sectors and sources, providing greater clarity and precision; availability of historical documents, allowing for a thorough and retrospective analysis;
The report also highlights areas of opportunity for Panama, including: expanding the availability of reports in English; increasing the number of presentations, both virtual and live; translating the website of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) into English; and adopting the SDDS/SDDS Plus standards of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the presentation of data.
These recognitions reflect Panama's commitment to improving its transparency and relationship with the investment community, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the region.
