Canada: New Online Tax and Benefits Portal

Posted on 2017-03-08

Canada has merged two portals that are used by taxpayers to update and manage their tax affairs and benefits online.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Families, Children and Social Development have launched a new online service that links the two organizations' respective secure portals, My Account and My Service Canada Account.

These portals offer self-service options for updating and managing tax and benefit affairs online.

Canadians who are registered for either service can now access both using a single secure session.

Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthilier said: "We believe this new connection between both organizations gives Canadians easy and safe access to the information they need to manage their benefits online."

Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development, added: "This new service will focus on the needs of Canadians. Both points of entry will allow Canadians to have secure access to their information as well as benefits they and their families are eligible for. Services like this one are a perfect example of how the Government of Canada is making it easier for Canadians to manage online benefits, such as the Canada child benefit, Old Age Security, and Employment Insurance."
