Panama maintains Category I in aviation safety

Posted on 2018-10-10

The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) announced on Thursday that Panama maintains category I in aviation safety, rating awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States.
"We have maintained this category, although in 2015 and when doing ICAO, an audit for the first time after 10 years did not do it, we found that we had very poor compliance below 36%," explained Alfredo Fonseca Mora, chief of the AAC.
Fonseca Mora received the rating through a note from the FAA, which is dated this Thursday, and highlighting aspects such as aeronautical personnel licenses, certification processes, operational surveillance plans, aeronautical workshops and aircraft maintenance.
The director of the AAC said that by the beginning of 2019 they expect a new audit by the International Aviation Organization (ICAO), in which he indicated they intend to raise this level of compliance.
