Chinese companies prepare trade missions to Panama

In the wake of the announcement of the new diplomatic relations between Panama and China, expectations are heading to a new era of trade between the two countries, and already there are companies preparing to go Panama to explore opportunities.

"We know that many Chinese companies are showing interest to go to Panama to see business opportunities," said Anpanama the commercial Counselor of the Department of Latin America and Oceania's Ministry of Commerce, Shao Vingjun during a discussion at the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce of China, located in the city of Beijing, where further stated that these trade missions are being prepared for this year.

And though for years many companies both Panamanian and Chinese invested and regarded opportunities, the difference is in a stronger support and better channels to the Government established through agreements that will be signed between the Government explained the official. "Thanks to the establishment of the diplomatic relations the two Governments already have more direct mechanisms for supporting companies jointly" said.

"Panama is an important country, it is an important partner for China," added the officer while he explained the strategy that his country is applying in respect of commercial treaties that the led to establish these mechanisms with Peru and Chile, Costa Rica, the latter with which are in negotiations for its enlargement. They are also looking at the feasibility of having one with Colombia and Panama is not discarded now.

China is the second user of the Panama Canal, more than thousand ships that cross the Panamanian interoceanic annually emphasizes Shao ensuring that this has become an important point for the redistribution of Chinese products.

"Since July 12, the people's Republic of China has established relations diplomatic that has given very favorable conditions for trade and we also believe that we will have a very bright future in that sense" said the official.

But not only China's enterprises will view to Panama since China is preparing an international fair of imports which will be next year and in which Panamanian companies will be invited

"I think it will be a very important platform for consumers and Chinese companies raise awareness of products and services that Panama has" explained

The challenge is now on as conquers Panama a market of 1,300 million inhabitants.
