Tocumen Airport: Advances development of FTZ

The development of a logistics area at the international airport of Tocumen advances when 30 companies showed their interest in the development of the project. Tocumen International Airport, carried out the approval process for the first phase of construction of the free trade zone, expected to develop adjacent to the terminal, as part of its plans to consolidate Panama as the main center of transshipment of goods from Latin America

Some 30 national and international companies were submitted to the homologation, indispensable requirement for the tender for best value, where the representatives of interested contractors, could accept consultations on aspects with the statement of charges or other documents required by the Tocumen International Airport. For this first phase, the administration of Tocumen S.A., has developed an investment plan whose reference value has been set at US $ 12.3 million, for the subdivision and urbanization of approximately 12.93 hectares without including the slopes according to the land.

The delivery of the technical and economic proposals have been established, so that the winning company has a period of 385 days to execute the civil works of leveling the land, the construction of infrastructure, installation of basic services, the fencing of the area, parking for cars, drains, streets, Customs control points, wastewater treatment plant, administrative offices, as well as the processing of all permits required by the State and the Municipality of Panama.

The Free Trade Zone of the Tocumen International Airport, will be designed to serve as a port for the import, export and transit of high value merchandise, among which are technological equipment, pharmaceutical articles, perishable products, parts and spare parts, merchandise of smaller size than their nature need to be transported in the shortest possible time.
