Copa Airlines to Launch Starlink In-flight Wi-Fi and Extend "Panama Stopover" to 15 Days
Following a successful 2025 with 215,000 tourists—a 25% year-over-year increase—the Panama Stopover program aims to reach 250,000 visitors in 2026. This initiative continues to be a vital strategic tool for converting regional connectivity into economic growth and boosting Panama’s tourism sectors.
A key highlight of the updated program is the extension of the stay period from 7 to 15 days at no additional airfare cost. This change encourages travelers to discover more domestic destinations, such as David in the province of Chiriquí. Currently, 25% of passengers traveling to David connect through the Hub of the Americas; in response, the airline is increasing seating capacity by 40%, offering three daily flights and up to four on weekends.
Simultaneously, Copa Airlines has selected Starlink as its onboard Wi-Fi provider, making it the first airline in Latin America to adopt this low-orbit satellite technology. Passengers will soon enjoy high-speed, low-latency internet access for real-time digital services. The rollout of this new in-flight experience is scheduled to begin in July 2026.
