Panama could begin exporting natural gas to Colombia in 2025 as a response to the energy crisis facing the South American country. This was announced by Óscar Santibáñez, director of LNG for Central America and the Caribbean at AES Panama.
The gas will be transported from AES warehouses in Colón to the Colombian ports of Buenaventura and Cartagena.
Although exports will initially be directed solely to Colombia, AES Panama plans to expand the distribution of natural gas to other countries in the region in the near future.
