They will auction the first solar power plant in Panama

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF)  authorized the Empresa de Generación Electrica, SA (Egesa), to auction the Sarigua solar plant , located in the national park of the same name, located in the province of Herrera.

Both the MEF and the General Comptroller of the Republic made appraisals of the solar power plant,concluding that the average price of the same is $ 3,779,223.38.

This information was published in Official Gazette 28646-A on Thursday, November 1, 2018, in Executive Decree No. 328 of October 23, 2018,which authorizes the Egesa to auction the aforementioned solar power plant.

In 2012, Egesa received from the Italian company Enel Green Power (EGP) the donation of the first solar plant in Panama with 11,200 solar panelsand generating capacity of 2.4 megawatts (MW) , starting operations in 2014.

The contribution of this plant to the national energy demand is not significant, since its generation capacity is 2.4 megawatts (MW) against a total installed in the country of 3,423.3 MW, of which 143.0 originate from solar energy sources.

The document states that Egesa built the interconnection line with a distribution of 8.7 kilometers, which represented a contribution of $ 1 million.

The solar plant has a My Environment land concession that is on a five-hectare plot for which it pays up to $ 33,000.

In the minutes of the board of directors of Egesa 01-2018 of January 12, 2018, there is approval to proceed with the sale by auction of public goods.
