Dutch mission at the TOC Americas Conference

Posted on 2018-11-07

From 12 to 15 November, Dutch companies from the logistics sector will visit Panama during the TOC Americas Conference .

The leader of the mission is Rene van der Plas , director of the Port of Rotterdam International, who has extensive experience in the maritime and logistics industry, and directed the expansion of the Port of Rotterdam between 2004 and 2014.

Among the Dutch companies in the logistics sector that will come to Panama to participate in the TOC Americas conference are leaders in automatic classification systems and companies in the maritime dredging sector, a press release reported.

The port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe and has transformed the Netherlands into a logistics hub for the entire continent, including agriculture and food.

On November 13, in the development of the conference, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will organize a seminar on the transformation of Panama into an agrologistics hub.

To foster the relationship between the two hubs, the Panamanian government has set up an agro-commercial office in Rotterdam. During the visit of President Juan Carlos Varela to the Netherlands in January 2018, the governments agreed to collaborate in establishing a food hub in Panama. As a first step, the Netherlands and the European Union offer training and coaching to small and medium Panamanian producers to support them in exporting to Europe.

The objective of the Connecting Central America program is to strengthen the Central American capacity to market goods and services through advising and accompanying SMEs in the value chains of specialty coffees, cocoa and derivatives, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and seafood.
