Panama: Foreign Investment increased by 17.8% in 2016

The XXXV international fair Expocomer 2017, which brings together from Wednesday March 22 in Panama about 10,000 businessmen from more than 30 countries, consolidates the country as a business center, said its promoters.

Presidential Minister Alvaro Aleman said at the opening of the fair that Panama, like Latin America, faces difficult situations due to different corruption cases, and defended transparency as a "fundamental element in the political, economic and Social".

In that context, Alemán said, Panama is working to ensure the conditions necessary for the private sector and foreign investment to generate growth.

He stressed that in 2016 foreign investment in Panama increased by 17.8%, with a total that exceeded USD 4 billion, and placed the country as the recipient of these funds in Central America. He added that the creation and operation of the new free zone Panapark Free Zone, on the eastern periphery of the capital, the installation of new headquarters of multinational companies and the expansion of the Canal, will boost the scope of international business, something that is within reach Of the entrepreneurs who attend the fair inaugurated this Wednesday.
